The parents of an 8-year-old boy who died in a house fire in Dehigastalawa, Balangoda, along with the mother’s alleged partner, were remanded until Aug. 18, police said.
They were produced before Acting Balangoda Magistrate Deshbandu Suryabatabedi on Sunday.
The boy’s mother and father face charges of negligence for failing to provide safety and protection for the child, while the alleged partner was remanded due to multiple outstanding warrants, police said.
The child’s post-mortem was conducted at the Balangoda Base Hospital, and the body was handed over to relatives for final rites. (Islandnews)
