CBSL launches Anti-Pyramid National Awareness Week

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) will launch the Anti-Pyramid National Awareness Week from 14th to 18th July 2025, under the theme “Pyramid is a trap – don’t get into the wrong track.” The campaign aims to educate the public on the dangers of prohibited pyramid schemes and their impact on individuals and the national economy.

Organized by CBSL’s Financial Consumer Relations Department, the initiative targets a broad audience including school students and teachers, military personnel, police officers, civil servants, and the general public. Outreach will span over 6,000 schools and more than 14,000 Grama Niladhari divisions, ensuring widespread grassroots engagement.

The week-long program will highlight the legal implications of participating in pyramid schemes, the deceptive nature of such models, and real-life experiences of victims. A multi-platform media approach — including print, radio, television, social media, and live seminars — will be used to reach communities islandwide.

CBSL urges all citizens to take part and remain vigilant, emphasizing that awareness is vital to safeguarding individuals from financial scams and maintaining trust in the financial system. (NewsWire)
