Two suspects have been arrested with four illegal firearms during a special police raid conducted in the Katana – Demanhandiya area.
The raid was carried out based on a tip-off received by the Officer-in-Charge of the Negombo Division Crimes Investigation Unit.
The arrested individuals, aged 51 and 58, are residents of the Katiyala area.
Police recovered a foreign-manufactured revolver, a locally made firearm capable of firing T-56 rounds, a revolver mold, and several tools used for manufacturing firearms from the possession of one suspect.
From the other suspect, police recovered two locally manufactured firearms.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Negombo Division Crimes Investigation Unit and the Katana Police. (Islandnews)
