The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for strong winds for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-western and North-Central provinces.
Issuing an amber alert, the department said the weather advisory is effective until 10.00 am tomorrow (19).
As such, strong winds of about 50-60 kmph can be expected at times over the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-western and North-Central provinces, due to the active south-west monsoonal condition.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can also be expected at times elsewhere on the island. (Islandnews)
