Sri Lanka Police have arrested four suspects, including two police officers, in connection with the killing of a spotted deer in the Wetakolu Wewa area, which falls under the Makulu Gasawewa Police Division.
The incident, which drew widespread attention after being reported on social media and mainstream news on July 24, 2025, led to swift police action. The suspects were produced before the Dambulla Magistrate’s Court on July 26 and were remanded until August 1, 2025.
Police emphasized that the law applies equally to all individuals, regardless of their status, and that investigations are carried out based on credible information received from the public.
