Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Matara districts today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Several spells of showers will occur in the North-western province. Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces and Trincomalee district.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Islandnews)
