The Department of National Museums says all museums under its purview, including the Colombo National Museum, will be closed to the public every Monday, starting 01st September 2025.
Issuing a statement, the department said that the museums will operate on the remaining days from 09.00 am to 06.00 pm.
The Department of National Museums said the museums will remain closed every Monday for maintenance work.
The museums will also remain closed on special holidays, such as Independence Day, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Labour Day, and the Vesak and Poson Festivals.
The Colombo National Museum will operate from 09.00 am to 06.00 pm, while the issuance of tickets will end at 03.00 pm.
Other museums will operate from 09.00 am to 05.00 pm, while the issuance of tickets will end at 04.00 pm. (Islandnews)
