A complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against a prominent youth activist of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya over an alleged AI-edited video targeting Minister Vijitha Herath.
According to the complaint, the video, which was circulated on social media, appears to have been digitally altered using AI to depict an image resembling Minister Herath against a JVP backdrop, accompanied by derogatory statements.
The Coordinating Secretary to Minister Herath, Chaminda Jayanath, stated that the content was intended to defame the minister, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and the JVP.
He has requested the CID to conduct an immediate investigation and take legal action against the account holder responsible for posting the video. (Islandnews)
