Police say two people, including a pedestrian, have been injured in the shooting incident that was reported in the Peliyagoda area today.
According to the Police, unidentified gunmen had opened fire at a man travelling on a scooter on Gnanarathana Mawatha in Peliyagoda.
The victim is a 45-year-old resident of Colombo 15, working at the Peliyagoda fish market.
The Police further said that, however, another man who was travelling on a bicycle near the victim had also been injured in the shooting.
He has been identified as a resident of Colombo 15. Both injured individuals have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
The Police said a T56 firearm had been used to carry out the shooting, while it is yet to be ascertained how the suspects had arrived and left the scene of the crime.
