Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing probe into an overseas trip allegedly funded with government resources, local media reported.
Wickremesinghe was summoned over a visit to London that investigators say included private events but was financed by state funds. The CID has said the trip costed about 16.9 million rupees
Earlier this month, investigators questioned former presidential secretary Saman Ekanayake and former private secretary Sandra Perera as part of the inquiry.
Reportere confirmed that Wickremesinghe arrived at the CID headquarters in Colombo Friday morning. (Islandnews)
