Former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed has expressed hope that former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe will return home soon, following his recent arrest in Colombo.
In a post on social media platform X, Nasheed said he was “very much looking forward” to Wickremesinghe’s return, tagging the former president’s official account.
Wickremesinghe, who was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department on Friday, faces charges of misusing state funds during his presidency. His arrest has drawn regional attention as it marks the first time a former Sri Lankan head of state has been detained on corruption allegations (Islandnews)
