Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Colombo, Uditha Liyanage, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over allegations of treasure hunting against his wife.
DIG Uditha Liyanage is due to be presented before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court.
He has been arrested in connection with the incident where his wife and seven others were arrested on 15th August for allegedly engaging in treasure hunting at a temple in Shravasthipura, Thimbirigaskadawala, Anuradhapura.
The suspects were arrested by the Anuradhapura Police, based on a tip-off, and were remanded until 26th of August after being produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court. (Islandnews)
