The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the Fort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday that an investigation has been initiated under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act against former Minister Udaya Gammanpila.
According to the CID, the inquiry was launched over an alleged statement made by Gammanpila that could incite disharmony among communities. The specific remarks in question were not disclosed during the court proceedings.
