Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and Galle and Matara districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Cloudy skies can be expected over Northern and North-Central provinces, while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces after 1.00 pm.Â
Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.Â
Meanwhile, showers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in other sea areas around the island in the evening or at night.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota will be rough at times. The wave height may increase by about 2.5-3.0 m in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Matara via Galle (this is not for the land area). (Islandnews)
