An artist has been arrested by officials of the Bribery Commission on charges that he solicited bribes from a school principal and a Sri Lanka Air Force officer.
The artist, identified as Vinod Tharanga, was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption yesterday in Mathugama (July 24) and produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate. The suspect has been remanded until August 5.
According to officials from the Bribery Commission, Tharanga allegedly promised to have complaints against the principal and Air Force officer closed without legal action.
