Cabinet Media Spokesman, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, has urged the people of the North and East not to be misled by distorted narratives and false propaganda targeting the government and security forces.
His remarks come in the wake of a hartal campaign scheduled to be launched tomorrow (18) in connection with the death of an individual who had allegedly attempted to forcibly enter the Mullaitivu Shivanagar camp of the 12th Sinha Regiment, which is set to be relocated.
Minister Jayatissa noted that investigations into the incident are already underway, and three army personnel have been taken into custody and produced before court.
“Certain political groups are attempting to exploit this situation by spreading false information and creating unrest among the people in the North and East. I call upon the public to understand the facts and act peacefully,” he said. (NewsWire)
