The suspect involved in the shooting near the Dehiwala Railway Station on the 18th has been shot dead during an exchange of fire with the STF early this morning (25).
The STF had raided an abandoned house in Palagama, Kadellawita area in Kahatuduwa around 4:30 AM today, based on information regarding the suspect’s hideout.
As the officers approached, the suspect had opened fire on them, prompting STF personnel to return fire. The suspect was critically injured in the shootout and later succumbed to his injuries.
One STF officer sustained injuries during the exchange and is currently receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Hospital.
The suspect’s body has been moved to the Panadura Hospital for postmortem and further investigations. (Islandnews)
