Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Namal Karunaratne, says he would resign from his post if claims that he ate mud or paddy alongside some are proven.
Namal Karunaratne made the remark while speaking at a public meeting, referring to some defamatory claims made in the media recently.
“Some are saying Namal Karunaratne ate mud like this and ate paddy like this, while they are doing that. I have never eaten mud or paddy. If you can prove these, I will resign from my post,” the Deputy Minister challenged.
Pointing out that the government has given value to the production cost of rice, he said some who cannot tolerate this success are mocking him, making false claims. (Islandnews)
