A 31-year-old man stormed into a house in Marangala, Padiyathalawa early this morning (July 23) and fatally slit the throat of a 22-year-old woman believed to have been in a romantic relationship with him.
The suspect also attacked her parents, causing serious injuries, before slitting his own throat and dying by suicide.
Initial police investigations suggest that the attack was driven by a personal dispute linked to a failed romantic relationship.
The injured parents are currently receiving in-patient treatment at the Mahoya Hospital, while the crime scene remains under police guard as investigations continue.
