A 30-year-old woman was fatally shot in Naththandiya by unidentified gunmen last night.
Police said the shooting was carried out by two unidentified gunmen who arrived on a motorcycle.
The woman was traveling in a three-wheeler with her 10-year-old son when she was shot, Police said.
She succumbed to her injuries upon admission to the Marawila Hospital, while the child sustained injuries.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was recently released on bail after being remanded in connection with drug-related charges.
Police believe a firearm, possibly a pistol or a revolver, was used in the attack. (Islandnews)
