Postal workers have agreed to resume duties from 4.00 pm today (24), Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced following discussions with union representatives. He said workers had consented to suspend trade union action and return to normal duties.
“We were of the view that the government was not ready to discuss two main requests put forward by the trade unions, but was ready to address the remaining 17 requests,” he said.
“From Monday, fingerprint attendance systems will be introduced at the operations and administrative divisions of the central mail exchange. In addition, the government’s proposed overtime payment regulations, effective from March, will be implemented without changes,” he added.
“Therefore, from 4.00 pm today, all trade unions have agreed to report for work, ending their strike,” he said. ( NewsWire)
