President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Monday left for the Maldives on a three-day official state visit.
President Disanayake is visiting the Maldives at the invitation of Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu.
The visit marks President Dissanayake’s first official trip to the Maldives since taking office and comes as the two nations celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations, established on July 29, 1965.
The state visit, scheduled from July 28th to 30th, will include bilateral discussions between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the President of the Maldives, along with other senior officials of the country.
During the visit, several agreements aimed at enhancing Sri Lanka-Maldives cooperation are expected to be signed.
Additionally, during the state visit, the President is scheduled to attend a community event organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy in the Maldives, where he will meet with the Sri Lankan expatriate community residing in the Maldives. (Islandnews)
