President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will embark on two overseas visits in September, first to the United States for the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, followed by a state visit to Japan.
Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath told media that the President will depart for the US on September 23 and address the UNGA on the 24th, outlining his government’s policies, including its foreign policy. He is also scheduled to meet several world leaders on the sidelines of the sessions.
From New York, President Dissanayake will travel to Osaka, Japan, on September 27 to attend Expo 2025 and participate in Sri Lanka Day, showcasing the nation’s culture, tourism, trade, and investment opportunities.
The state visit to Japan will begin on September 28 at the invitation of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. (Islandnews)
