Showers will occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Several spells of showers will occur in the North-western province, while a few showers may occur in Northern province.Â
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm.Â
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces and Trincomalee district.Â
Meanwhile, showers are likely at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.Â
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
