Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has warned that Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza City would destroy the trust underpinning hopes for a two-state solution to the conflict.
“If Israel takes Gaza, it’s not just about land—it will shatter the trust that has kept alive the hope for a two-state solution. Countries that once stood united on this principle will begin to drift apart. And once that trust is broken, peace will become nearly impossible,” Premadasa said in a post on X.
His remarks came after Israel’s security cabinet on Friday announced its intention to seize Gaza City, a move that has drawn criticism from several governments, including Sri Lanka’s, which expressed “deep concern” and called for an immediate ceasefire. (NewsWire)
