Rapper named Madhava Prasad has been arrested with a fake pistol and narcotics in Homagama, police said.
The arrest followed an investigation after a video circulated on Facebook showing six men consuming drugs while keeping a firearm nearby. Police took the 26-year-old suspect into custody at a housing complex in Homagama.
Officers said the suspect admitted during questioning that the video was released online to boost his following. Police seized 20 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and 35 grams of hashish from his possession.
He is scheduled to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court. (Islandnews)
