The Embassies of Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Maldives jointly promoted their tourism offerings at an event titled “The Enchanting Trio” on July 9 at the Waranda Club in Brussels.
The event, attended by EU officials, diplomats, and tourism professionals, showcased the unique cultural and natural attractions of the three South Asian nations, with an emphasis on sustainable tourism.
EU’s Deputy Managing Director for Asia & Pacific, Paola Pampaloni, the chief guest, praised the countries’ joint efforts and encouraged European travelers to explore their offerings. She highlighted the EU-funded “Pekoe Trail” in Sri Lanka as a model for sustainable tourism development.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Chandana Weerasena noted the country’s safety, diversity, and focus on eco-tourism, wedding tourism, and Ayurveda. Ambassadors from Bhutan and the Maldives also promoted their nations, calling South Asia a must-visit destination for European tourists. (Islandnews)
