Sri Lanka, IMF discuss investment incentives and growth


President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today (21) at the Presidential Secretariat. 

The discussions focused on attracting investment through measures such as tax relief and other incentives aimed at creating a favourable environment for economic development.

During the discussion, the President noted that Sri Lanka has achieved economic stability and is making progress toward economic growth. 

He emphasized the country’s commitment to implementing new economic policies and strengthening international cooperation to further stabilize the economy.

The President also acknowledged the assistance provided by the IMF and expressed confidence that continued support would help Sri Lanka maintain economic stability and achieve sustainable growth. 

He further highlighted the government’s efforts to provide relief measures to the public by 2026.

The IMF representatives agreed to support Sri Lanka in its efforts to advance economically.

President Dissanayake reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of economic growth reach the public, with a focus on long-term prosperity.

The IMF representatives expressed their agreement to continue supporting Sri Lanka’s economic stability and growth. 

The President thanked the IMF for its assistance and reiterated the government’s dedication to achieving economic progress for the benefit of the people. (Islandnews)
