Sri Lanka’s Official Reserves Rise 1% to USD 6.14 Billion in July

Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets rose by 1% to USD 6.14 billion at the end of July 2025, up from USD 6.08 billion in June, according to data from the Central Bank.

Foreign currency reserves accounted for USD 6.06 billion of the total, while gold holdings remained at USD 50 million. The reserve position in the International Monetary Fund stood at USD 29 million. The total includes proceeds from the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) swap arrangement, subject to usability conditions.

The increase comes alongside strong worker remittances, which reached USD 697.3 million in July, helping to strengthen the country’s external buffers. (Islandnews)
