The Ministry of Finance says continuous discussions have been scheduled with the United States on the possible reduction in the reciprocal tariffs imposed thus far.
Accordingly, a meeting between Sri Lankan representatives and the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office will be held today (18).
The Finance Ministry said that the discussion will be conducted virtually to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The discussion will get underway with the participation of the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, and other relevant government officials.
The US imposed a 44% reciprocal tariff on Sri Lanka initially in April, but later reduced the tariff to 30%, expected to come into effect from 01 August this year. (Islandnews)
