Two individuals were arrested inside Yala National Park for illegally transporting approximately 47 kilograms of venison on two motorcycles during a patrol in Zone 01 near the Gal Ara area on July 27.
Following the arrest, wildlife officers recovered wire snares believed to have been used to kill the spotted deer.
The suspects were produced before the Tissamaharama Magistrate’s Court today (July 28) along with case materials. Both pleaded guilty, and the court granted them bail with a personal surety of Rs. 500,000 each. The case is scheduled to be taken up again on August 1. (Islandnews)
