An alleged member of an organized crime syndicate, identified as Hikkaduwa Liyanage Sahan Sisikalum, also known as Weligama Sahan, was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport after being deported from India, police said.
The 31-year-old suspect, a resident of Weligama, arrived in Sri Lanka from Chennai and was taken into custody by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
He is reportedly wanted in connection with multiple crimes, including murder and robbery, in the Matara and Panadura areas. Authorities said he is known to have operated as a gunman for several underworld figures, including ‘Harak Kata,’ ‘Midigama Chooti,’ and ‘Kudu Salindu.’
The suspect has been handed over to the Kalutara Crimes Division for further investigations. (Islandnews)
