Seylan Bank Wins Two Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026
Seylan Bank has secured two major accolades at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, being named Sri Lanka’s Best Bank for Customer Experience and Best Bank for SMEs.
The dual recognition highlights the bank’s continued focus on customer-centric banking, digital innovation and support for Sri Lanka’s small and medium-sized enterprises.
Seylan Bank has retained the Best Bank for Customer Experience title for the second consecutive year, having previously won the award in 2025. The achievement reflects the bank’s continued investment in digital platforms and services aimed at improving the customer banking experience.
Commenting on the awards, Seylan Bank Director/CEO Ramesh Jayasekara said the dual recognition represents an important milestone for the bank and validates its continued investment in people, technology and systems designed to deliver greater value to customers.
The Best Bank for SMEs award also recognises Seylan Bank’s efforts to support the growth of Sri Lanka’s SME sector through specialised financial products and services.
The bank has developed solutions addressing challenges commonly faced by SMEs, including access to collateral, rising energy costs and limited expertise in international markets. It has also introduced tailored banking propositions for women entrepreneurs.
Among its initiatives is the Eco Solar Loan, which supports SMEs and agricultural businesses seeking to adopt renewable energy solutions. The bank’s Export Expert programme combines financing with practical guidance on export procedures, documentation and market access, while its Trade Hub in Pettah provides dedicated support to businesses involved in international trade.
Seylan Bank has also continued to expand its digital banking capabilities. Its E-KYC facility enables customers to open accounts digitally, while the Merchant Portal allows businesses without their own websites or shopping carts to accept online payments.
The bank also offers its Internet Payment Gateway and Pay Direct services. In 2025, Seylan Bank became the first bank in Sri Lanka to introduce Google Pay acquirer services for e-commerce merchants.
Customer service has been further supported through an omnichannel Customer Relationship Management system and chatbot-enabled engagement. The bank also operates real-time reputation management tools, trilingual branch feedback portals and a 24-hour contact centre to monitor and respond to customer needs.
Beyond financing, Seylan Bank has sought to increase visibility for SME customers through its partnership with Ada Derana on the television programme ‘Oba Pa Nagena Maga Apa Inne.’ The programme has featured the journeys of more than 60 SME entrepreneurs over five consecutive years.
Seylan Bank said the two Euromoney awards reflect its continued commitment to delivering consistent customer service while empowering Sri Lankan businesses through specialised financial solutions and long-term support.
