The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the further remand of three suspects, including the wife of former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena, until October 20 in connection with an alleged Rs. 50,000 bribery case.
The suspects were produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama on October 6. The case involves allegations that a bribe was offered to a staff assistant attached to the Colombo High Court in an attempt to influence a judicial decision involving Sarana Gunawardena.
A court staff assistant and the Registrar of the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court are also among those arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
